Williams Sonoma Wishlist

I have decided that I need a food mill. Got that? Need. As in Maslow's Heirarchy of this Needs-to-be-in-my-kitchen.

I was watching Barefoot Contessa this weekend and she made the most delicious looking tomato basil soup using one of these suckers. It basically purees the tomatoes while catching all the skins and seeds. Making thicker soup without using thick ingredients.

One of my favorite things in the world is the tomato basil soup from La Madeline. Ina's soup has the same consistency of La Madeleine's but doesn't have the artery assault of 45 grams of fat. Seriously, one serving of La Madeliene's soup has 142% of your suggested daily saturated fat intake. ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FORTY-TWO!

Now, I am not one to shy away from heavy cream, as evidenced by the fact that I threw away an empty pint yesterday that still had a good month left until the expiration. But you have to draw the line somewhere. And I'm sorry, but if I'm going to consume 500 calories in liquid form, it's probably not going to be via soup.

I don't have a food mill yet either. It's probably only a matter of time. Report back if you splurge on one?
