Random Updates

I will get around to telling y'all about the trip eventually, promise. But until then I thought I'd throw one these hodge-podge lists out there and call it a blog post. Apologies in advance.
  • One week after moving day, we are officially settled into the new place. This is in no small part thanks to my fabulous parents. Oh my word- those two are tornados of unpacking efficiency. I am so grateful to have had their help. My sweet dad hung picture, after curtain rod, after mirror and my wonderful mom would not rest until we had things unpacked, put up, and organized. Y'all are amazing- I can't thank you guys enough!!
  • "Settled" just in the nick of time, because we are having our fantasy football draft at our house tomorrow night! I am so excited this is starting back up again. Julie had the fantastic idea to start an all-girls league last year and I think everyone had a lot of fun. I have my heart dead-set on two players in particular, so watch out girls!
  • I had a very ohmygahwhendiditurnintoanadult moment on Saturday when I had my first rendezvous with custom framing. I bought a picture in Venice that has odd dimensions and can't find a frame to fit it. All I can say is 'holy shit'. I find it somewhat ridiculous that it is going to cost five times the price of the actual art to frame the damn thing. If it weren't a complete slap in the face to the artist, I would probably just stick it to the fridge with a magnet like a very talented kindergartner painted it.
  • I jumped aboard the hatch chili train last year and attempted to roast my own. After a fairly intense (and frustrating) post-roasting peeling session, I was a little over the whole process.  However, last week I found the pre-roasted/peeled containers of hatches at Whole Foods. I'm a big proponent of peeling/chopping/prepping things myself to ensure the freshest outcome, but after this discovery, roasting my own hatches is a task I don't see in my future for a very long time.
  • I couldn't leave without sharing my latest disaster with you. I went to my parents' house on Saturday to pick up a few things. As I was taking an armful of clothes downstairs, I slipped off the last step and landed on/rolled my ankle. I've only broken one bone in my life and it probably hurt worse than that. Being in the middle of the move, I tried to put on a brave face so I could keep going but it was fairly obvious it was sprained and my dad was having none of that. Luckily, with his instruction to lay off of it and ice it, it's healing up pretty quickly. However, I do think it somewhat resembles an elephant hoof in the first picture, don't you?
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!
